Double Drum Roller for Sale

Compare 10 LICH double drum roller models, from a 560 kg walk-behind to a 14 t tandem roller for asphalt: drum width, frequency, vibration force and power.

A double drum roller, also called a tandem roller, rides on two steel drums and no tyres. Both drums compact and the surface is left smooth, so the machine can work forwards and backwards over hot asphalt without marking it. That makes the double drum roller the main tool for asphalt paving, patching and municipal road work.

Our 10 double drum roller models cover three job sizes: compact walk-behind and ride-on rollers from 560 kg to 3 t, the 3.3 t LC203 for street maintenance, and the 8 t LC208 and 14 t LC214 for paving behind a paver.

Three sizes for three jobs

  • 560–1,500 kg (LC600, LC700Z, LC800, LC900): 600–900 mm drums and 70 Hz vibration for footpaths, car parks, trench reinstatement and patch repairs. The LC600 is walk-behind; the LC700Z and LC800 are ride-on.
  • 2–3.3 t (LC1000, LC1100, LC1200, LC203): 1,000–1,250 mm drums for city streets, cycle lanes and small paving jobs. The LC203 adds front and rear scrapers, water spray and 2 × 30 kN centrifugal force.
  • 8–14 t (LC208, LC214): full-width paving rollers. The LC214 has 2,100 mm drums, a 110 kW engine, two 600 L water tanks, two vibration settings and an air-conditioned cab.

Tandem or pneumatic tyre?

On asphalt, a double drum roller handles breakdown and finish rolling, while a pneumatic tyre roller kneads the intermediate passes and seals the surface. Large paving crews run both; smaller jobs use a double drum roller alone.

Our two pneumatic tyre rollers, the LCP1016H and LCP2030H, are listed in the full vibratory roller range.

Double drum roller checklist

  • Drum width against the lane, path or patch you pave.
  • Water tank and spray system for hot asphalt, so the drums do not pick up mix.
  • Walk-behind or ride-on, based on access and daily area.
  • Travel speed between work areas: 0–4 km/h on the LC600, up to 12 km/h on the LC214.
  • Engine power, from 4 kW on the LC600 to 110 kW on the LC214.

Buyer questions

What is a double drum roller used for?

Compacting asphalt surfaces, sand-gravel mixes and roller-compacted concrete on roads, car parks, paths and industrial floors, plus trench and patch repairs.

Is a tandem roller the same as a double drum roller?

Yes. Both names describe a roller with two steel drums in line, one at the front and one at the rear.

How heavy is a double drum roller?

Our range covers 560 kg, 800 kg, 1,200 kg, 1,500 kg, 2,000 kg, 2,500 kg, 3,000 kg, 3,300 kg, 8,000 kg and 14,000 kg.

What vibration frequency does a double drum roller use?

70 Hz on the compact LC600 to LC1200 models, 50 Hz on the LC203 and two settings of 40/46 Hz on the LC214.

Which double drum roller suits asphalt paving?

The 8 t LC208 and the 14 t LC214 for road paving behind a paver; the 2–3.3 t models for streets, car parks and patching.
